DO NOT FORGET TO HAVE SOMEONE HELP YOU PUSH DOWN ON THE RESTRAINT IF YOU NEED IT, TEAM MEMBERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PUSH DOWN MORE ON YOUR RESTRAINT. Next, when boarding the bench sit in either of the middle two seats (as the seat dividers have a little more give than the stiff outer sides of the bench). If you get the green light outside (in the test seat) that means you will be 100% good to ride the ride. Get someone in your family/party to push down on the restraint for you and cross your arms over the restraint like a bear hug. TRY THE TEST SEAT!! You have very minimal time to get on the bench as it makes its way down the platform so to not stress yourself out or the team members, try the test seat outside. Next, for women the chest area can be bothersome if you have rather large breasts. That being said, you CAN be too tall for this ride. If you have wide shoulders or are tall as all hell this ride is very uncomfortable. Weight doesn’t matter it is all about the shoulders/chest/stomach area. Okay, I think I have same great insight on this topic as I was a lead ride operator for FJ for 3 years. It’s not as embarrassing as, for example, having to exit a rollercoaster, and having everyone watch as you’re pulled off. Everyone is too distracted dealing with their own set up and won’t notice someone being turned away. But my sister who’s 5’ and weighs less than me didn’t get the green light because she has bigger thighs, so the restraint couldn’t be pulled as far downward as they needed it to.Īlso, just a heads up, the loading area moves very quickly, which sounds intimidating, but in my opinion it feels more like ripping off a band- aid.
I’m 6’ and 300lbs with a pretty big gut, and I still fit on somehow. It seems to depend on where you carry most of your weight. So if you can fit into that seat area without too much pouring over into the front area, you should be ok. The problem areas seem to be more chest and thighs than stomach. This extra bit that covers the lap area seems to be where most of the trouble comes from. And it it seems too uncomfortable, I’d say it’s still worth it to walk through the line, it works as it’s own very cool experience!īut if I remember right from my own personal panic research about the ride before going, the seat itself is 18” wide, and the restraint goes over your shoulders into your lap. I would say to just give the test seat a try when you get there before writing anything off, you may be surprised. Obviously it does depend on body shape and what not, but can anyone share their experiences of the ride as someone carrying a bit more weight?ĮDIT: I've written an update to this post here. Also I've read instances when people have fit in the tester chairs and then not been allowed to ride or vice versa. Some of the information I have been found has been confusing and contradictory, with people saying they're 240lbs and getting thrown off the ride, and other saying they're over 300lbs and have managed to fit on. I know Orlando made some of their seats more friendly to larger folk, but as far as I'm aware Hollywood haven't done the same. Like, I'm not being able to sleep worried. I'm going to Universal Studios Hollywood soon and I'm so worried about not fitting onto the Forbidden Journey ride. I must have read everything possibly out there!
I've spent hours looking online at youtube videos and on some threads on reddit but I'm posting again in case anyone has any more information (or anything more recent).
